The main village shopping areas are in the centre and south.

The village centre is around the High Street. At one end lies St Andrew's Church, the Church Hall, the Castle Of Comfort public house, which serves lunches and a variety of fine beers, the Handy Stores, a grocer and newsagent and Medstead Hardware, which includes the village sub-Post Office.

At the other end of the village centre are the Convent of St. Lucy, the village green with its sports pavilion and Village Hall and Medstead School, with the Tennis Club and Bowls Club beyond.

The nearest shopping centre is the market town of Alton, where market day is Tuesday. There are also regular Hampshire Farmers Markets.
